A traffic stop in northwest Hillsborough resulted in the arrest Saturday of two men and the recovery of $15,000 in stolen property, sheriff's officials said.
Michael Robinson, 20, of 8703 Waterway Drive, and William Jeffrey, 19, 2535 Siesta Court, were pulled over at 8:10 a.m. at Ehrlich and Turner roads by a deputy who recognized the car as one suspected in recent auto thefts, authorities said. A search revealed two pistols, stereo equipment and burglary tools.
Robinson has been arrested five times since 1991 on charges including burglary, grand theft and forgery, according to records with the Hillsborough Sheriff's Office. Jeffrey was charged in 1992 with possession of stolen property and petty theft, according to the same records. Disposition of those cases was not available Saturday.
Robinson was charged Saturday with 17 offenses, including being a felon in possession of a firearm, armed burglary, grand theft, auto burglary and armed burglary. His bail is set at $50,925.
Jeffrey is facing 14 similar charges, and his bail was set at $47,500. Both were still in custody Saturday night.
