Hernando County has openings for the following positions:
Vacancies for residents interested in serving as an alternate member on the Brooksville Housing Authority for the balance of a four-year term that expires May 31, 1995. Applications are available at the City Clerk Office, 26 S Brooksville Ave. They must be returned by March 14. Resumes alone will not be accepted. Applicants must be a registered voter in the state of Florida. Residents of the Brooksville Housing Authority will receive special consideration. Positions on the Spring Hill/Hernando County Metropolitan Planning Organization Citizens Advisory Committee. The CAC will provide public input on the transportation planning process, including evaluation of the planning organization's Long Range Transportation Plan, the Transportation Improvement Program and the Unified Planning Work Program. The committee will have nine members: one resident from each of the five County Commission districts, a Brooksville resident, two minority representatives and one who qualifies as transportation disadvantaged. Openings on the Spring Hill/Hernando County Metropolitan Planning Organization Bicycle/Pedestrian Advisory Committee. Members will be appointed to represent the American Association of Retired Persons or similar senior adult organizations, the public at large and a pedestrian proponent. Applicants are asked to list any affiliation with the above-mentioned groups on the application. FEMA gives county $24,231 for various area charities
The Federal Emergency Management Agency granted $24,231 to Hernando County on Jan. 1 to provide emergency assistance by Catholic Charities, Mid-Florida Community Services, the American Red Cross and the Salvation Army. Emergency help provided has been for rent/mortgage, utility, other shelter and food. For information, call 799-7522.
