A 29-year-old Atlanta man was badly beaten and robbed after leaving a downtown nightclub early Sunday morning, Tampa Police Department reports said. Gregory Jones left the Hammerjax dance club at 901 N Franklin St. about 2:45 a.m. and was walking in the area around Morgan and Polk streets when four men confronted him and hit him in the head with an unknown object, reports said. After he fell to the ground, Jones was kicked and punched by the men before they ran off with his wallet. Jones wandered into the downtown Hyatt Regency shortly after the attack and was taken to Tampa General Hospital. Police reports said he was treated for broken ribs, a head bruise and a split lip. Sunday afternoon, a Tampa General nursing supervisor said there was no record of Jones being admitted to the hospital. He was likely treated and released from the emergency room, she said.
