Williams was voted top actor in a comedy film for a second year; Whoopi Goldberg was top comedy actress for the third time. Cruise won top actor in a drama for a second time; Julia Roberts earned her fifth drama award.

Aerosmith was named top rock group. Garth Brooks was voted top male musical performer for a fifth year. Reba McEntire scored her fourth People's Choice Award as top female musical performer.

Home Improvement star Tim Allen took home his third trophy as favorite male TV star, with Roseanne Arnold getting her fourth as a female TV performer.

ABC's Grace Under Fire and NBC's Frasier tied as favorite new comedy. Not surprisingly, Brett Butler of Grace and Kelsey Grammer of Frasier were favorite TV performers in new series.
