Awards

Navy Petty Officer 1st Class Anne E. Goulart, daughter of William J. and Barbara L. Siebert of St. Petersburg, received a letter of commendation for superior performance of duty while at the Naval Submarine Support Facility New London, Groton, Conn.

Completion of training

Navy Seaman Rusty E. Toelken, son of Dan and Linda Toelken of Pinellas Park, is attending "A" School in Millington, Tenn. He is a 1992 graduate of Dixie Hollins High School.

These former residents of south Pinellas County have completed military basic training:

Marine Pvt. Julieus D. Adams, son of Caren C. Adams Sr. and grandson of Annie Adams, both of St. Petersburg, has completed training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, S.C.

Marine Pfc. Mark H. Davenport, son of Jay P. Davenport of St. Petersburg, has completed training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, S.C.

Air Force Airman Vincent B. Jobson, son of Janice E. and Kenneth S. Jobson of St. Petersburg, has graduated from basic training at Lackland Air Force Base, Texas.

Marine Pvt. Jennifer Joy Kocic, daughter of Joy Jan Kocic of Tampa and granddaughter of Gloria Barton of St. Petersburg, completed training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island. She attended Northeast and Lakewood high schools in St. Petersburg, graduating from Jefferson High School, Tampa, in 1993.

Promotions

Marine Sgt. Scot J. Halvorsen, son of Gerald R. and Corinne C. Halvorsen of St. Petersburg, was promoted to his present rank while a Marine security guard at the American Embassy, Tokyo. He is a 1989 graduate of Boca Ciega High School.

Marine Lance Cpl. Jason Itro, son of Marsha Itro of St. Petersburg, was promoted to his present rank while a heavy machine gunner at Camp LeJeune, N.C. Itro is learning a secondary specialty as a small gunner. He is a 1992 graduate of Northeast High School.

Miscellaneous

Navy Chief Petty Officer David A. Russell, son of William J. and Betty J. Russell of St. Petersburg, has left for the Mediterranean for six months on the guided missile cruiser USS Vicksburg, based in Mayport.

Navy Petty Officer 3rd Class Adrian D. Samuel, son of Johnny N. and Ada B. Edwards of St. Petersburg, has left for the Mediterranean for six months on the oiler USS Monongahela, based in Norfolk, Va. He is a 1990 graduate of Pinellas Park High School.

Navy Seaman Recruit David K. Steeves, son of David K. Steeves of St. Petersburg, has reported to Fleet Logistics Support Squadron 50, Anderson Air Force Base, Guam.

Navy Petty Officer 1st Class Robert C. Williams, son of Robert E. and Margaret Williams of St. Petersburg, has left for the Mediterranean for six months on the guided missile cruiser USS Vicksburg, based in Mayport. He is a 1984 graduate of Dixie Hollins High School.
