Kendrick Hardcastle, wife file for divorce

Kendrick and Mia Hardcastle filed for divorce Wednesday, citing standard "irreconcilable differences" in their 38-year marriage.

Earlier this year, Ken Hardcastle, 61, was featured in a three-part series by the St. Petersburg Times, that detailed the Tampa scion's tragic fall into drugs, prostitution and ultimately prison.

He was released from prison this summer and, according to the divorce file, the couple were separated in mid June.

No specifics are given in the filing, but the marital settlement agreement dated Monday sets out some of the financial details of the divorce.

If the judge approves the settlement, Mia Hardcastle will receive $1,350 in monthly alimony until she dies or is remarried, along with health and dental insurance.

Her ex-husband will also pay the real estate taxes on their jointly owned home on Bayshore Boulevard, but Mia Hardcastle will have sole occupancy.

The couple have two children who are older than 18. Hardcastle pleaded guilty to charges that he solicited a girl under 16 for prostitution in 1992 and was placed on house arrest.

He was arrested for possession of crack cocaine in June 1993 and was sentenced to 3{ years in prison. Hardcastle had donated time to Eckerd College and to his church in Tampa's Hyde Park. He was also a member of the exclusive Ye Mystic Krewe.
