Two conference volleyball championships will be decided in two matches tonight.
Clearwater (17-5 and 13-0 in the conference) plays at Tarpon Springs (16-3, 12-1) at 7 p.m. for the Pinellas County Athletic Conference title. If Clearwater wins, it finishes the conference schedule undefeated. If Tarpon wins, the Spongers will have the same record as Clearwater and win the title because the first tiebreaker is head-to-head competition.
Clearwater is favored, especially with Tarpon's best player, Shannon Cooper, out with the chicken pox since last weekend. She is questionable for tonight.
In the Bay Conference, Shorecrest (21-3, 8-0) plays at Tampa Prep (22-3, 7-1), at 7:30. Each team won its conference division, setting up tonight's title match.

Lakewood downs CCC
ST. PETERSBURG _ Lindsay Penrose wouldn't let Lakewood lose. In the final game against district rival Clearwater Central Catholic, Penrose, a 6-foot-1 middle hitter, rose above CCC's defense, in particular Marauder middle hitter Kim Zschaus, recording six kills and two block solos for a 15-8, 3-15, 15-6 victory.
All told, Penrose had 11 kills and nine block solos, helped by setters Erin Morse and Amy DeWitt. Morse had 18 assists, while DeWitt had 10. The Spartans committed only three service errors.
"It definitely was a plus going up against competition like Zschaus," Penrose said. "I get real excited when there's someone else my size. . . . I was disappointed, though, that CCC didn't use her in the middle, because I wanted to go one-on-one."
