Sega Sports, it's time to throw in the towel.

Sure, you gave us a great home entertainment system and developed a dynamic CD system. But stick to assembling components, and leave the making of the video games to Entertainment Arts.

Compare EA Sports' newest version of a college football game, Bill Walsh College Football '95, to the new Sega college football version, and it's a no-brainer.

The EA game has added more teams, now at a total of 36. Other new options include more offensive and defensive formations, a windowless passing mode, and Walsh Reports _ Stanford University coach Bill Walsh gives in-depth reports about each team.

But the two most creative options are statistical. Players can customize their own season, from one to 16 games. If a player's team continues to win, it can compete for the national championship at the end of the season in one of four bowl games.

After each game, player's teams are ranked on a national and divisional level to see how they stack up against the 35 other teams.

The "fatigue factor" is built into each game. If you continue to use a particular running back or receiver, for example, he'll get slower as the game goes on.

Prices for Bill Walsh College Football 95 range from $58 to $63; it's available at toy and computer stores.

So, if you want to feel the excitement of college football, check it out. Bill Walsh will keep you cheering while the Sega game will have you at 4th and 12 deep in your own territory.
