Conspiracy of culture, cuisine

Dunedin is discovering what Tampa, St. Petersburg, Sarasota, Gulfport and Ybor City have known for quite a while: there's strength in numbers.

When several gallery operators and related businesses join forces to hold a joint open house, people come.

Tonight the first of a "Discovering Dunedin" series begins at 5:30 p.m. with two galleries, a restaurant and a night spot participating. While the public can join in for only part of the experience, the emphasis is on attending all four locations. A charge of $22.95 covers dinner at Casa Tina's and cover charge, dessert and coffee at Smoothie's Cafe.

The Plainsmen Gallery, 542 Douglas Ave.: Art of the West and Southwest. Light refreshments. Closing time: 8 p.m. Free.
