DEATHS ELSEWHERE

META WILDE, 86, a former Hollywood script supervisor who chronicled her affair with the writer William Faulkner in a best-selling book, died Tuesday in Kansas City, Mo., of pneumonia. A veteran of more than 200 films, she began an 18-year affair with Faulkner while working on the 1936 film The Road to Glory, co-written by Faulkner. She described the relationship in the 1976 best-seller A Loving Gentleman: The Love Story of William Faulkner and Meta Carpenter Wilde, co-written with Orin Borsten.
