A Dutch couple announced plans Friday to bring more than 1,000 manufacturing jobs to Citrus County by investing $5-million to $10-million in an industrial park.
Jalbert M. and Hedwig M. Taminiau, president and vice president of Tammy Corp., made their announcement after a two-week search through Citrus and Hernando counties.
They eventually hope to locate up to 70 businesses on a 377-acre site. It will be at least a year before construction begins.
FPL GROUP INC. The parent of Florida Power & Light earned $222-million, or $1.25 a share, in the third quarter, up from $141-million, or 75 cents a share, when an $85-million charge was taken, last year.
INTERMEDIA COMMUNICATIONS OF FLORIDA INC. The Tampa-based alternative access telephone company said Friday that it had a net loss for the third quarter of $611,556, or 7 cents per share, compared with a loss of $498,646, or 7 cents per share, for the third quarter of 1993.
SUPERIOR SURGICAL MFG. CO. INC. The Seminole-based company said Friday that net income for the third quarter ended Sept. 30 was $2.5-million, or 29 cents a share, compared with $2.0-million, or 23 cents a share, in the year-ago quarter. Sales for the quarter were $33.25-million, compared with $32.4-million a year ago. Superior Surgical manufactures and sells uniforms and other apparel for several fields, including the health care and fast food industries.
NICHOLAS FINANCIAL INC. The Clearwater-based auto finance and software company reported net income of $139,560 for the fiscal second quarter ended Sept. 30, up from $69,979 for the same period a year ago. Revenues rose from $626,663 to $1.1-million.
