Indian spiritual leader to discuss meditation

Swami Adiswarananda, a monk of the Ramakrishna Order of India and the minister and spiritual leader of the Ramakrishna-Vivekananda Center of New York, will speak this week at the Vedanta Center of St. Petersburg, 216 19th Ave. SE.

Tuesday the lecture is "The Goal, the Way and the Milestones." Thursday, the topic is "Meditation in Practice." Both lectures are at 8 p.m. in the chapel of the Center. Wednesday, a special seminar entitled "Taming the Restless Mind" will be from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. in the parish house of the center.

Adiswarananda was born in West Bengal, India and received his undergraduate and master's degrees in economics from the University of Calcutta. He was ordained a monk in 1963. He began service at the New York Center more than 20 years ago. He is a frequent lecturer at colleges, universities and religious and cultural centers throughout the U.S. and abroad.
