Since Oct. 1, 67 animals have been adopted from Citrus County Animal Control, 19 during the week ending Wednesday. This week begins a new year of record keeping for the shelter. Today's featured pet is Duke, a 2-year-old, neutered male black and tan malamute/shepherd mix. Included among the many other animals available for adoption are a 2-year-old Finnish spitz mix; a 3-month-old male dachshund mix; a 9-week-old male boxer mix; a 4-month-old male Gordon setter mix; and a neutered male Shar-Pei mix. Among the cats available are Squeaker, an adult female domestic shorthair; Dickens, an 18-month-old spayed female domestic shorthair; and Cali, a 6-month-old domestic shorthair. The shelter has available a large number of older animals, as well as puppies and kittens. It is at the end of Airport Road in Inverness. Normal shelter adoption and claim hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday and noon to 3 p.m. Saturday. Call 726-7660.
