Group bound for nationals
For the second straight year, the 140-member Seminole High Warhawk Band was named grand champion among 32 high school bands competing during the weekend in the Bands of America southeast regional in Atlanta's Georgia Dome.
Mike Robinson, Seminole's director of bands, said his group will compete in the national contest in Indianapolis on Nov. 4 and 5.
Last year, the Seminole High band placed seventh at nationals. "We're hoping to improve on that," Robinson said.
The marching band played a selection of Aaron Copeland compositions.
