A St. Petersburg man was arrested Saturday and charged with hitting his elderly mother. Daniel Edward Chenoweth, 40, of 2580 38th Ave. N, was charged with abuse of a person 65 or older, a St. Petersburg police report said. Police said Chenoweth kicked, pushed and struck his 77-year-old mother, Edna Mayer, several times. Chenoweth was released Sunday from the Pinellas County Jail after posting $20,000 bail.
Resident jailed after city worker attacked
ST. PETERSBURG _ A city employee was attacked after asking a man to leave a park Saturday night. St. Petersburg police arrested Daniel O. Shoemaker, 36, of 867 23rd Ave. N and charged him with burglary and assault after the 11:19 p.m. incident at North Shore Park. Police said Shoemaker attacked Gotfrey King and tried to steal King's city truck at the park. King had asked Shoemaker to leave the park, which closed at 11 p.m, according to the report. Shoemaker was being held in the Pinellas County Jail on Sunday in lieu of $15,000 bail.
