The setting was different but the message from Citrus Memorial Hospital officials was the same: We are cooperating with police. We are protecting patient confidentiality. And we are not discussing specifics of the Bruce Alan Young case. Foundation Chairman David Langer said Monday that he and others at the hospital were "distressed beyond words" about allegations that Young, then a nurse at Citrus Memorial, raped a 15-year-old patient who was under sedation. Charles Blasband, chief executive officer, later said that CMH was a good hospital, everyone is cooperating with authorities and the institution will be open to official recommendations of change. However, as they have since the allegations became public, hospital officials would not discuss the staff's reaction to Young's actions Oct. 3 or how the hospital investigated a previous, similar complaint against him.
