South Florida politicians get behind Nelson

Several South Florida politicians, including the mayor of Miami, threw their political muscle behind Democratic insurance commissioner candidate Bill Nelson on Monday.

Mayor Stephen Clark, Commissioners Willy Gort, Victor De Yurre and Miller Dawkins, state Senator Daryl Jones, U.S. Rep. Carrie Meek, D-Miami, Dade County Commission Vice Chairman Alex Penelas, North Miami Mayor Michael Colodny and North Miami Beach Mayor Jeffrey Mishcon announced their endorsements of Nelson at Miami City Hall.

"I have decided to support my friend Bill Nelson because I believe his experience in the Florida Legislature and in the U.S. Congress qualifies him as the candidate that will best be able to lead Florida out of its current insurance crisis, dealing with the availability and affordability of insurance," Clark said.
