Defying drugs

Cotee River Elementary kindergartener Samantha Seletos signs an anti-drug banner Monday at the New Port Richey school. Pupils throughout Pasco County are busy making posters, decorating classroom doors, signing pledge cards and wearing red as they "say no to drugs" in commemoration of National Red Ribbon Week. The red ribbon became a symbol for a drug-free society after federal agent Enrique Camarena was tortured and killed by drug traffickers in 1985. Supporters place ribbons on doors, car antennas, mailboxes and lapels.
