Get the most nutrition out of food

A U.S. Department of Agriculture publication "Conserving the Nutritive Value of Foods" offers the following tips for getting the best nutritional content out of our foods:

Vine-ripened summer tomatoes are likely to have twice the vitamin C content of those grown in a greenhouse.

Oranges in segments are more nutritious than in juice.

Beef served rare has more of the B vitamins than if it is well-done.
