A little help from their fiends

It's a "Night for Art Fiends" from 7:30 to 10 tonight as Florida Craftsmen repeats last year's successful silent auction of works by member artists throughout the state.

On display will be all kinds of original fine crafts: jewelry, ceramics, weaving, papermaking, silk painting, woodworking, metalsmithing, wearables and sculpture. Participants write bids on accompanying sheets, each time topping the previous bid. Last and highest bid wins the work.

While you're waiting to see if someone tops your price, you can enjoy refreshments, music and other activities. The theme is Halloween, so wear a costume.

Money raised helps sustain the non-profit gallery's programs and services. Admission is free. Florida Craftsmen is at 237 Second Ave. S., St. Petersburg; 821-7391.
