Home again, home again, placed by a rig

Two ospreys will have to move from their nest at SMI's premixed concrete yard in Crystal River, but they won't have to fly far. In photo at left, Julie Hovis, a biologist for the Florida Game and Fresh Water Fish Commission, helps Withlacoochee River Electric Cooperative employee Mike Humphreys attach a nesting platform to the end of a utility pole this week. The pole is intended as a replacement for a chimney, shown in photo above left. That equipment, which has been sold, will be removed. In photo above right, the new nesting platform and box ride atop the utility pole as a truck swings the pole into place, in a back corner of the yard.
