A dedication ceremony for a $21-million marine research complex to be used jointly by the state Department of Environmental Protection and the University of South Florida will begin at 8:34 a.m. today. The USF side will be called the Knight Oceanographic Research Center, in honor of William and Elsie Knight of Toledo, Ohio, who contributed $1-million toward fellowships. The DEP side will be called the Florida Marine Research Institute. The sides will be connected by a third-floor walkway. The public may tour the facility at 100 Eighth Ave. SE from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. A dedication honoring artist Ned Smyth and his works, which appear in the buildings' lobbies, will take place at 11 a.m. For information call 893-9160.
