Hinshaw sparks UCF win

Darin Hinshaw threw for two scores and ran for two more Saturday as Central Florida scored 21 points in the second quarter en route to a 49-24 victory over Liberty.

Hinshaw was 24-of-36 for 387 yards and scored on a pair of 1-yard plunges. Central Florida (6-3) had 600 yards of offense, while Liberty (3-5) totaled 408 yards.

After Antwan Chiles, who was 20-of-40 for 157 yards for the Flames, connected with Lawrence Worthington for a 1-yard TD pass in the first quarter, Central Florida ran off 28 unanswered points.

Hinshaw scored on a 1-yard run in the final minute of the first quarter, hit Todd Cleveland with a 26-yard TD pass midway through the second quarter and hooked up with Cleveland again for a 14-yarder later in the quarter.

Gerod Davis added a 28-yard touchdown run as Central Florida took a 28-10 halftime lead.

Hinshaw finished his scoring with a 1-yard run in the third quarter for a 35-10 lead.

B-CC duo honored

GREENSBORO, N.C. _ Bethune-Cookman's Jerrell Cogman was named Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference defensive player of the week. Cogman, a native of Tampa, recorded 10 tackles and two sacks and caused a fumble in Bethune-Cookman's upset win at North Carolina A&T. Rookie of the week went to Steve Wallace of Bethune-Cookman, who carried the ball nine times for 86 yards and a touchdown.
