Are teams pulling the hidden-money trick on players? The league says no and the union says yes.

Accounting techniques have emerged as the latest flashpoint in the lockout, which reached its 30th day.

"To be candid, we are skeptical of the quality of the information you might provide," union head Bob Goodenow wrote to the league in requesting financial data dating to 1989-90. "Our evidence suggests that there is every reason to question data regarding the finances of the league or its clubs."
