French Open: England's Paul Broadhurst shot 5-under-par 67 to lead Denmark's Anders Sorensen by a stroke after a round at St. Quentin en Yvelines.
Broadhurst, who won both his matches for the European Ryder Cup team in 1991, made eight birdies on the par-72, 7,122-yard French National course. Spain's Jose Maria Olazabal, limping badly from a foot injury, had 69 to tie four others for third place.
Florida State Amateur: Mike Bodney of Ponte Vedra Beach shot 68 at Sarasota Bay Country Club to lead after a round. Tampa's Wyatt Meyer tied seven other golfers for fourth, shooting 71 on the 6,700-yard course.
U.S. Women's Public Links: Jenny Lee, 18, of Fullerton, Calif., shot 3-under-par 70 at Colts Neck, N.J., to win the two-day stroke play with 144. Lee, a freshman-to-be at Texas, goes into today's two rounds of match play as the No. 1 seed.
