Rookie catcher Charles Johnson, hitting .143 after a 1-for-17 slump, drove in six runs with nine total bases as visiting Florida set a team record for runs.
Johnson singled, doubled twice and hit one of three homers while matching the club record for RBI in a game. He drove in 10 runs in the previous 44 games. Terry Pendleton and Andre Dawson also homered.
The Marlins scored six runs in the second to rout Kevin Jarvis (3-4), who pitched a two-hitter against them May 10 for the major leagues' first shutout. They scored seven in the seventh.
Florida centerfielder Chuck Carr, who missed the last half of May with a strained left hamstring, left after the hamstring tightened when he ran the bases in the second.
