The Veterans Freedom Memorial Committee is looking for individual and corporate sponsors to adopt a memorial brick at the monument site in Veterans Memorial Park, 3602 N U.S. 301 at the Tampa Bypass Canal. The bricks will be used to pave walkways at the park, and money from sales will go toward the $110,000 needed to build the memorial. The memorial of white Georgia marble will feature six 7-foot columns. The Great Seal of the United States, in 1-inch relief, will be on column one with an etched figure of a Revolutionary War soldier and the preamble to the Constitution on the reverse. Columns two through six will display the seal of each branch of the military with the etched history of each on the reverse side. A 40-foot illuminated flagpole will be in the center with the American flag on display 24 hours a day. The cost of adopting a memorial brick is $35. Each brick ordered will be engraved with up to 14 characters per line (including spacing) on no more than two lines. Each brick must contain a last name or business name for a directory listing. After the project is completed, the directory will be developed to aid in locating the brick in the park. Adopt a Memorial Brick applications are available in the Customer Service Centers at Wal-Mart stores in Hillsborough County.
