Today's topic: Adopt-a-pet

Since Oct. 1, 796 animals have been adopted from Citrus County Animal Control _ 25 during the week ending June 15. Today's featured pet is Pepper, an 11-month-old spayed female black and tan sheltie mix. Also available for adoption are Shasta, a 6-month-old white and tan female springer spaniel mix; Poppy, a 4-year-old tan male Chihuahua; Koko, a spayed adult female chocolate Labrador; Sugar, an adult female black Labrador mix; and Bandit, an adult neutered male red Doberman. Among the cats available for adoption are Babs, an adult female black and white domestic shorthair; and Maxine, an adult female black Manx domestic shorthair. The shelter has a large number of older animals, as well as puppies and kittens, available for adoption. It is at the end of Airport Road in Inverness. Shelter adoption and claim hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays and noon to 3 p.m. Saturdays. For information, call 726-7660.
