Where have all the fathers gone?

Published Oct. 4, 2005

Every night, nearly a quarter of America's 67-million children go to sleep in homes where their biological fathers are absent, according to a recent study.

An estimated 55 to 60 percent of children born this decade will spend part of their lives in a fatherless home.

About 40 percent of children who live in fatherless homes haven't even seen their biological dads in at least one year.
