SPORADIC VIOLENCE, CONFUSION MAR HAITIAN VOTE

Haitian voters frustrated by long delays wait outside their Port-au-Prince polling station Sunday under a blazing sun. All but 10 of the country's 2,205 elected offices were contested in its first free elections in five years. But the country's road to democracy was marked by some pitfalls: sporadic violence, political threats, ballots that reportedly did not include the names of some candidates and ill-equipped and unorganized polling stations that opened late or not at all and left voters frustrated and confused.
