Three in New Port Richey family celebrate educational successes

Crystal E. Blatchley, 22, Chad A. Blatchley, 18, and Thomas Blatchley Jr., 23, children of Thomas G. and Robin Blatchley of New Port Richey and Vicki Letzner of Erie, Pa., are all recent graduates.

Miss Blatchley was graduated from Elon (N.C.) College with a bachelor of science degree in sports medicine. She was senior co-captain of the volleyball team. She broke the school's volleyball record and the South Atlantic Conference records in service aces. She also was a member of the basketball and softball teams. She has accepted a graduate assistant coaching position for the volleyball team at the University of Southwestern Louisiana, a Division I college in Lafayette, La. She is a graduate of Gulf High School.

Chad Blatchley has been accepted at the University of Southwestern Louisiana in Lafayette. He will major in business accounting and will be a member of the track and field team. He has been invited to join the college's Division I football and track teams. He received a Gold Field Scholarship from the Florida Department of Education. He is a Gulf High graduate.

Thomas G. Blatchley Jr. is a recent graduate of St. Petersburg Junior College. He received an associate of science degree. He was enrolled in the radiography program. Blatchley has accepted a position in the radiology pool program at Northside Hospital and All Children's Hospital in St. Petersburg and University Hospital in Tampa. He is a graduate of Gulf High.

Auxiliary announces scholarships

HUDSON _ The Hudson American Legion Auxiliary Unit 335 has announced scholarships totaling $2,000.

The recipients are Khristina Thomas, Suzanne Magri and Nicole DeBilio of River Ridge and Jessica Wells, Wendy Turosh and Carrie Wisneski of Hudson High School.

The Auxiliary Unit 335 sponsored local girls to attend Girls State in Tallahassee.

They are Meagan Hgerty and Leslie Alaimo, with Dana Borick as alternate from Hudson High School and Jaimie Woolfe, Radhika Dinavahi from River Ridge, with Laura Cisko as alternate.

Scholarship winners selected

HOLIDAY _ Kimberly Townsend and David Goldstein, residents of Holiday Lake Estates East, received $1,000 scholarships from the Holiday Lake Estates Civic Association.

The scholarship recipients are recent graduates of Gulf High School.
