People 50 or older who are interested in wellness, fitness, travel and fun are invited to join the new chapter of the National Association of Senior Friends at Largo Medical Center.
The national association offers members free services and discounts designed to enhance personal lifestyles and make health care more affordable. It is a not-for-profit organization with 247,000 members in 97 chapters nationwide affiliated with hospitals in the Columbia/HCA Healthcare Corp.
Senior Friends members receive free health screenings, magazine subscriptions, seminars, social activities and educational programs. Members also receive discounts on a variety of national and local products and services, including prescriptions, eyewear and hearing aids, hotels, books, gardening supplies and dance lessons.
Members are also invited to Senior Friends social activities and trips, health screenings, seminars and retirement workshops. Members will receive advance notice of all hospital-sponsored community events and if hospitalized at Largo Medical Center, the member's spouse or caregiver receives complimentary meals in the hospital cafeteria.
The annual membership fee for Senior Friends is regularly $15 for individuals and $25 for couples. But as an introductory offer, two people can join Senior Friends for the price of one, or one person can get a two-year membership for the price of one.
Interested seniors can visit the Senior Friends office on the first floor of Largo Medical Center. The office is open weekdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. For information, call Marva Krauss, Senior Friends adviser, at 587-0603.
