Jesuit's Terry McCormick, Sam Marsonek and Nick Stocks and Tampa Bay Tech's Brett Groves starred for the International Athletic Federation team in the Kaui Invitational Baseball in Paradise Tournament.
The team went 6-0, winning the tournament with a 6-5 victory against Carlsbad, Calif. Marsonek started for the team but was relieved by Stocks in the second inning after pulling a back muscle. Stocks finished the game and had a two-run single to help the group rally from a 5-1 deficit. Groves also had two RBI.
Before the championship game, the IAF team beat all-star groups: the East-West Ambassadors, St. Louis All-Stars, New Mexico, North-South Ambassadors and Australia.
Marsonek threw a five-inning one hitter against East-West and Stocks threw a five-inning one-hitter against Australia.
Marsonek has gone 4-for-5 and Stocks has gone 6-for-9 with a triple, three doubles and the only home run of the tournament. Groves pulled a hamstring at the tournament but still has gone 5-for-7 with two doubles and two triples. McCormick is 4-for-6 with two doubles.
The team, made up of players from Florida, Tennessee, Alabama, Kentucky, California and Missouri, has a batting average over .450 and the group outscored its opponents 74-7.
