Remember the "Idle Speed" sign in Coffee Pot Bayou that was too faded for boaters to read? About 100 new speed signs will be posted in local waterways, including a new one at that location. Only somebody already has repainted it. (You might think twice about owning up: It's a misdemeanor). In a recent City Times story, Richard Jablonski, a maintenance worker, pointed out that a sign on Coffee Pot Bayou at 27th Avenue had lost some of its lettering, leaving only "All Boats Only." It and about 100 other signs on pilings and bridges will be replaced within 45 to 60 days, according to James Terry of the coastal division, county public works department. All it took was an okay from the state Department of Environmental Protection, the Army Corps of Engineers and the U.S. Coast Guard.
