Hawks announce coach

Blackhawks captain Dirk Graham knows Craig Hartsburg as "a very honest and very genuine person and a very smart hockey man." Murray Craven knows him as "a very nice guy." Beginning today Hartsburg will be known as coach of the Blackhawks.

The Hawks have called a news conference for today, at which they will announce that Hartsburg, 36, will replace Darryl Sutter, who resigned 10 days ago.

The Hawks were one of several teams pursuing the former Minnesota North Stars defenseman, who was named coach of the year in the Ontario Hockey League after his first season with the Guelph Storm.

Lease made public

As part of the legal fight to keep the Devils from moving to Nashville, Tenn., the New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority made public the lease that the team charges is financially substandard and has been so flagrantly violated that the team will terminate it July 6.

Among the key parts of the 1982 lease with the hockey team, which was amended in 1991 is payment to the Devils of 34.2 percent of gross luxury suite revenues, parking revenues and concession revenues.
