HOLIDAY FAUX PAS: Double-dipping

Improper dipping etiquette has ruined more parties than disco and strained more relationships than afternoon talk shows, so here's a few tips to get you through the Fourth of July dipping challenge. A survey conducted for Land O Lakes' new line of No-Fat Dips asked 1,000 people to rank the most irritating dipping habits of Americans. Top no-no at 38.6 percent was double dipping (dipping an item into a serving bowl of dip, taking a bite, and dipping the same item again). Tasting the dip by using your finger turned off 25.1 percent, eating straight out of the serving bowl offended 7.7 percent and dipping from another person's plate bothered 1.4 percent. The moral of the story? As George on Seinfeld was told, "Take one dip and end it!"
