Making mincemeat of metal

Workers at North Star Recycling Co. rebuild a shearing machine at the company's plant at 5220 Dover St., Tampa. The machine will be computer controlled and is built to cut heavy, thick metal. It has 1,335 tons of cutting force and can process 45 tons per hour. The company also shreds automobiles at the site. At the company's non-ferrous operation at 5124 Causeway Blvd., Tampa, copper, brass, aluminum and stainless steel are processed.
