Nurses, others honored by Morton Plant Mease

Morton Plant Mease Health Care recently awarded Nurse of the Year and Clinical Excellence honors to its employees.

Nurse of the Year awards were given to Laura Shoemaker and Aquilea Pater, both of Mease Hospital Countryside; Cassandra Vonnes and Mari Hagan, both of Mease Hospital Dunedin; and Dora Krauss, Stephanie McKarney and Elizabeth Panduro, all of Morton Plant Hospital.

Nancy Berulis and Joe Deddo each received Ambulatory Care Nurse of the Year awards; Rose Hamilton and Mildred Nasta, Rehabilitation Awards; and Albertina Iannella, Nurse of the Year in Home Health.

Clinical Excellence Award recipients include Peggy Boutelle, Wanda Caldwell, Marcia Carnevale, Janet Dalesandro, Karen DeSantis, Pamela Dickman, Debbie Freyer, Julia Gregory, Rhonwen Jackson, Margaret Kirkpatrick, Wilma Marshall, Sue Mowry, Martyne Nichols, Linda Parker, Darlene Robinson, Colleen Rupe, Cindy Southard, Janet Stash, John Trykala Jr., Christine Vandermoer and Nancy Wilson.

Anniversaries

Gerald and Nancy McDaniel of Clearwater celebrated their 50th anniversary June 26 with their family at a dinner at Bern's Steak House in Tampa. The couple were married June 30, 1945, in Sharon, Pa., and came here in 1983 from Canfield, Ohio. He worked as a sales representative for Ohio Corrugating Co. and United Paper Service Co. The McDaniels have three children and a grandson.

Nelson and Madeline Robbins of Seminole plan to celebrate their 50th anniversary tonight with friends and family at a dinner reception hosted by their children at the Don CeSar Beach Resort on St. Pete Beach. The couple were married June 30, 1945, at Robins Field in Robins Air Force Base, Ga., and came here in 1953 from New York. He worked as a dental ceramist. The Robbinses, who are members of Seminole First Baptist Church, have four children and five grandchildren.

Bodybuilding champ

Damian Robards of Clearwater won the heavyweight and overall titles at the Tampa Bay Classic bodybuilding competition June 10 at the University of South Florida Special Events Center in Tampa. The 25-year-old has trained 10 years and plans to enter the national competition next year.

Auxiliary elects officers

Jane Killian has been elected president of Clearwater Community Hospital Auxiliary. Gertrude Weaver is first vice president; Marjorie Boucher, second vice president; Margaret Kennedy, secretary; and Helen Knapp, treasurer.
