Three Tampa pitchers held Charlotte to four hits, all off starter Ray Ricken. He allowed four runs in six innings. Donnie Leshnock (5-1) got the victory.
Cardinals 4, Miracle 3: Mike Matvey's RBI single and Dave Madsen's sacrifice fly put St. Petersburg ahead 4-2 in the ninth, and Fort Myers suffered its first loss of the second half.
Joe McEwing sparked the Cardinals by going 4-for-5 with an RBI and two runs. Matvey went 3-for-5.
Tigers 9, Phillies 8: Host Lakeland erased an 8-5 deficit with four runs in the eighth inning. Eloy Arano went 4-for-4, Drew Christmon homered and Sean Freeman went 3-for-5 with two RBI to lead the Tigers.
Brian Costello and Santy Gallone each drove in two runs for Clearwater, and Wendell Magee had three hits. Costello, Gallone and Magee tripled.
Blue Jays 4, Mets 3: Visiting Dunedin, which defeated St. Lucie 12 straight times before a 4-3 loss Wednesday night, returned to form as Ben Candelaria went 3-for-4 and scored twice. Vic Davila had two RBI and a triple.
Keilan Smith (7-4) scattered seven hits and struck out six before yielding to Tim Adkins, who fanned the final batter for his eighth save.
