Staten Islanders name officers for coming year

Michael Varvaro will serve as president of the Staten Island Club of Florida for the coming year. Other officers are Caroline De Sanna, vice president; Irene Cerio, treasurer and Adele Langley, secretary. Sam Moschitto served as the installing officer during ceremonies at Baypoint Village in Bayonet Point. The club meets at 1 p.m. the first Wednesday of the month at CARES Center, 7505 Rottingham Road, Port Richey. Meetings have been recessed for the summer and will resume at 1 p.m. Sept. 6. Alpha Alpha Iota chapter

installs 1995-96 officers

Alpha Alpha Iota, a recently formed career chapter of Beta Sigma Phi, installed officers for the 1995-96 year. Bonnie Reed will serve as president; Jeanne Beltz, vice president; Louisa Wiggins, recording secretary; and Barbara Steiner, treasurer. Shirley Wells was named Pledge of the Year, and Bonnie Reed was chosen Woman of the Year.

Aktion Club of Holiday

presents two awards

The Aktion Club of Holiday recently presented awards to Allen Ashmore, general manager of the New Port Richey Sam's Club, and Mike Kelly, general manager of the New Port Richey Wal-Mart.

The men were honored fortheir assistance with a peanut sale fund-raiser. Funds were raised from the sales at the two business sites. Proceeds will fund Aktion Club activities.

A special activity of the Aktion Club is presenting gifts to senior residents at the Whispering Pines Nursing Home in New Port Richey.

The Aktion Club of Holiday is supported by the Kiwanis Club of Holiday. It was the fourth Aktion Club formed in the world. Aktion Clubs have been in existence for eight years and are located in 10 states and six foreign countries. Membership is composed of mentally challenged adults who work together to perform community service.
