Today's topic: Adopt-a-pet

Since Oct. 1, 809 animals have been adopted from Citrus County Animal Control _ 13 during the week ending June 27. Today's featured pet is Pete, a 3-month-old male tan and white bulldog mix. Also available for adoption are Precious, a 4-month-old black female Labrador mix; Coco, a 6-month-old brown and white retriever mix; Penny, a 6-month-old tan and black female shepherd mix; and Bobbie, a 5-year-old spayed female tan Labrador mix. Among the cats available for adoption are Samantha, an adult female chocolate point Siamese domestic shorthair; Sterling, a 9-month-old female silver tiger domestic longhair; and Cotton, a 10-week-old male white domestic shorthair. The shelter is at the end of Airport Road in Inverness. Adoption and claim hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays and noon to 3 p.m. Saturdays. The shelter will be closed Tuesday in observance of Independence Day. For information, call 726-7660.
