The Town 'N Country Heather under 19 girls won the USYSA Southern Regional Championship with a 2-0 victory over the Georgia Lightning Saturday night in Greenville, S.C.
"I'm still kind of in shock," Heather coach George Fotopoulos said. "It was fantastic."
Robin Confer, who attended Clearwater Central Catholic before going to the University of North Carolina, scored the first goal for the Heather (54-1). Southern Methodist University's Danielle Garrett iced the game with a second-half goal.
The Heather advances to play July 26-30 in the nationals in West Palm Beach.
"Because of all the players we have, we'll probably be considered the favorite," Fotopoulos said. "But at that level, all four teams are deserving."
