Investigators believe the fire that damaged a Spring Hill home Saturday night was deliberately set. The house at 5048 Springwood Road was unoccupied except for a puppy, which was killed in the fire. A for-sale sign was in the yard, said Sgt. Frank Bierwiler, Hernando County Sheriff's Office spokesman. At about 9:30 p.m. a neighbor heard an explosion, looked outside and saw a man flee and get into a red vehicle, Bierwiler said. Investigators found a melted red gas can at the scene. No suspects had been identified by Sunday evening, Bierwiler said. There was no estimate of the damage done to the house.
