Pinellas Park Nat. wins 9-2

Anthony Terranova picked up the pitching victory and helped his cause with a double, single and homer to lead Pinellas Park National past Southwest 9-2 in District 5 Majors All-Star baseball Monday.

Joe Castagner also contributed a homer, single and double, and Mike Reinhold added an RBI double. Dan Coley relieved Terranova and struck out four.

Also, Ricky Pauley fired a two-hitter and fanned 12 as Cross Bayou defeated Meadowlawn 5-0.

Matt Dockus led the offense with two hits, while Brice Schrader, Clint Smith, Kevin Hettinger, Mike Sloan and Ryan Murphy added hits.

Matt Newton allowed two hits and fanned five to lead Northeast to a 8-2 win over Gulf Beaches. Aaron Abelman smacked two homers, Jeff Ritch added a homer, and Matt Wilbanks had three hits. Mike Williams and Matt Bonnell keyed the defense.

Kyle Christman and Bobby Wilson hit homers and Christman picked up the win as Seminole pounded Northwest 14-2. Travis Kremer added two hits for Seminole, which will play a winners-bracket game against Pinellas Park National on Wednesday night.

In a losing effort, Chris Garrands hit two homers.

9/10 baseball: Seminole collected 27 hits, including Carlos Nunez's three-run homer, to power past Southwest 37-0.

Matt McGee scored two runs and allowed one hit as Pinellas Park National blanked Gulfport 12-0. Cody Gelwick had three hits and scored three runs while Marcus Liwag knocked in four runs and had two hits.

Kelly Trippanero, Justin Hardwick and Carson Crooms combined to throw a one-hitter and lead Baypoint past Meadowlawn 13-2. Matt DeMayo had two RBI.

Kyle Baptist threw a one-hitter and fanned 13 to help lead Northwest to a 4-0 victory over Southwest. David Davis, Herminio Torres and Charlie Fields all had doubles.

Colby Gibbs and Mark Nelson combined for five hits to lead Cross Bayou past Northest 9-3.

Juniors baseball (age 13): Ryan Fowler allowed two hits over five innings to guide Seminole past Northeast 12-2. Robbie Evers, Ben Morris and Matt Eitel each had two hits while Andy Metcalf added a double.

Cory Slavik hit a three-run homer and struck out 12 as Azalea defeated Northwest 13-7. Cory Campanna, Nick Betz and Steve Neeley each had three hits, and Mike Svoboda and Brian Cook had two hits apiece.

Cedric Jackson got two hits and earned the win as a combined Thunderdome/Pinellas Park American team stopped Northwest 14-8.

Michael Jackson homered and got the win as Baypoint overcame a six-run deficit to down Cross Bayou. Eric Wagman had two hits and three RBI while Kenny Wooten had two singles.

Bobby McCutheon fanned seven in six innings to power boost Azalea past Southwest 7-3. T.D. Elsworth led the offense with three hits and two RBI.

Shawn Wilson struck out 17 and threw a no-hitter to lead Cross Bayou by Baypoint 5-2.

Seniors softball (ages 13-15): Julie and Kim Frabaugh combined for the win as Pinellas Park National beat Cross Bayou 17-10. Becky Wilcox, Lalita Mackie and Becky Burke supplied two hits apiece.

Kristin Kravitz threw five innings, allowed two hits and fanned six as Meadowlawn blanked Northeast 15-0.

Kravitz helped her own cause with a double and two singles while Amanda Stewart had two doubles. Constance Tongel contributed a double and three RBI.

Seniors baseball (ages 13-15): Jason Alzaris worked three innings and fanned seven to push Seminole past Gulfport 14-1. Kevin Cordes and Mike Hoben had two hits apiece while David Jackson scored four runs and had two singles.

Wil Ganci picked up the victory as Seminole defeated Northeast 13-1 to win its second straight game. Against Northeast, Kevin Cordes had two hits and three RBI while Ryan DeSimone contributed two hits and Craig Bultmann played strong defense.

Majors softball (ages 11-12): Christa Lembo and Nicole Behrens led Cross Bayou past Baypoint 15-14.

Gulfport edged Azalea 13-12, but in a losing effort Stacey Broome had three hits and three RBI. Kim Brown and Christian Johnson each had three hits.

9/10 softball: Christy Baxter teamed up with Michelle Tatlock to throw a two-hitter and fan nine but it was her three-run homer and grand slam in the same inning that propelled Cross Bayou to a 48-4 win over Northeast.

Jeanna Pine contributed eight RBI and Brittany Human added five. Holly Elliott and Mandy Collins had three RBI.

Ashley Cabral fanned 10 and went the distance as Meadowlawn defeated Seminole 13-9. Brittany Bell and Meredith Currey contributed two hits each.
