Nikki D'Andria of Spring Hill struck gold recently in the United States Amateur Confederation of Roller Skating's Regional Championship in Pensacola.
D'Andria captured gold medals in solo dance and in sophomore team dance with partner Matt Stone of Port Richey. She also placed second in the figures event and third in the loop event, qualifying her for the August national championships in Syracuse, N.Y., in all four events.
D'Andria placed second in last year's regional solo competition, then went on to a sixth-place finish at the national championships in Lincoln, Neb. The teenager also was fifth in the nation two years ago in the Junior Olympics solo dance event.
The 11-day national championships will match the top three finishers in each event from nine regional competitions.
