Sam Casella and Don Sprague were elected to fill the two vacant at-large seats on the town commission Tuesday night. Neither have held elected office before.
Casella, 51, is an urban planning consultant. He based his campaign on his experience as a planner and his opposition to commercial development.
Sprague, 51, works for Advantis, an IBM subsidiary. Throughout the campaign, Sprague said he stood firmly against any further commercialization of Belleair.
Casella and Sprague defeated Thomas M. Kruempelstaedter and Dan Coleman.
Town commissioners serve two-year terms and are paid $25 a month for expenses. Casella and Sprague will be sworn in at the April 16 commission meeting.
