HERNANDO IN FOCUS // In hot pursuit of Easter thrills

Turn loose about 500 children on a hunt for 6,000 plastic Easter eggs and all kinds of interesting things happen. Delta Woods Park was the scene of a raucous scramble on March

30 when the Hernando County Family YMCA and the Hernando County Parks and Recreation Department sponsored their annual Easter egg hunt. Children searched in two age divisions, with those 5 and under combing an open soccer field while the 6-10 age group faced a more challenging hunt _ for eggs hidden in trees, under leaves, in barbecue grills and at other secluded spots near the lake. The plastic eggs held small toys, with three special prizes in each division. The event included a small carnival and a dunking booth. The Easter Bunny was on hand for pint-size photo opportunities. Organizers said they were pleased with the event, noting that the weather was a bit raw. The children didn't seem to mind at all.
