Scoring: Seven judges give each dive a score from 0 to 10 in full or half-point increments. The highest and lowest are dropped, then the remaining five are added and multipled by the degree of difficulty, which ranges from 1.2 to 3.6. That total is multiplied by .6. Combined semifinal and final scores determine final results.
Fun fact: The McCormick family has a solid place in U.S. diving history. Not only did mom Pat win the platform and 3-meter titles in the 1952 and 1956 Olympics, but daughter Kelly took home a silver and bronze, respectively, in 3-meter in the 1984 and 1988 Olympics.
All-time U.S. best: Pat McCormick is the only woman to sweep both events at consecutive Olympics, at the 1952 and 1956 Games. A 1963 graduate of Long Beach State, she was a three-time Pan American champion and won 23 U.S. titles.
