Jenny Devine and Aimee Stryker, recent graduates of Hudson High School, were named outstanding students by the Aripeka Elks Lodge 2520.
Each received a certificate of achievement and a check for $25. The presentation was made by John Nejedlo, Elks youth activities chairman.
Jenny Devine is the daughter of Glen and Carole Devine. At Hudson High, she was involved with SADD and participated in varsity track and soccer and Odyssey of the Mind. She served as secretary of the National Honor Society and was vice president of the Senior Class. She is a dancer and was named a national champion in 1992, 1993, 1994 and 1995. She has performed at Epcot Center in Orlando and for numerous community organizations.
She graduated sixth in her class with a grade-point average of 4.2. She plans to attend the University of Florida in the fall.
Aimee Stryker, daughter of Richard and Kristine Stryker, is a member of the National Honor Society and was co-captain of the varsity cheerleading squad.
She graduated with a 4.0 grade-point average and plans to attend Pasco-Hernando Community College in the fall. She hopes to be a diagnostic medical sonographer.
NEW PORT RICHEY _ Morgan Terese Braine of New Port Richey and Sarah Catherine Reed of Dade City have been named 1996-97 Presidential Scholars at Stetson University.
Presidential Scholarships require a high school grade-point average of 3.5 as well as a minimum SAT score of 1300 or an ACT composite score of 30.
Braine is a graduate of Ridgewood High School of New Port Richey. Reed is a graduate of Pasco Comprehensive High School in Dade City.
