Man displays handgun during store robbery

A gunman walked into the Lil' Champ convenience store on Grand Boulevard on Thursday night and robbed the clerk of an undisclosed amount of money, according to Pasco County Sheriff's Office reports.

The clerk told deputies the man asked where the restroom was, then returned to the counter a few minutes later. He lifted his shirt, displaying a small handgun tucked in his pants, and said, "You know what this is. Now give me all the money."

The clerk complied and the man left the store, running south on Grand.

2 men charged with

possession of crack

PORT RICHEY _ Two men were charged with possession of crack cocaine in the Pine Hill neighborhood Thursday night, according to Sheriff's Office reports.

Reports said surveillance units saw Timothy Glenn Bielski, 38, and Robert Arthur Hornyak, 26, buying drugs from a woman on Oakleaf Drive.

Hornyak was arrested on Pine Hill Road east of Washington Street. Bielski was arrested a few minutes later on Siesta Lane east of Leo Kidd Avenue, according to reports.

Both were taken to the Pasco County Jail and later released on bond.

Man charged with

beating barber

HOLIDAY _ A New Port Richey man was arrested Thursday and charged with beating and robbing the owner of a barber shop the day before.

Frank Joseph Puccio, 38, is accused of approaching the owner of Dave's Barber Shop, 3434 U.S. 19 in Holiday, and asking to borrow $1, according to Sheriff's Office reports.

When the man refused, Puccio is accused of knocking him down and taking about $200 from his pocket.

Puccio was released on $15,000 bond.

Pair accused of theft

of pet shop birds

PORT RICHEY _ Two people were arrested Thursday and charged with stealing two birds worth about $1,600 from Shirley's Pet Shop in June.

According to Sheriff's Office reports, James Henry Vogel, 22, and a 17-year-old boy admitted smashing a window at the shop at 11142 U.S. 19 in Port Richey and removing two exotic birds, including a $700 yellow Amazon.

Both were charged with burglary to a business and grand theft. Vogel was released on $3,000 bond. The teenager was released to his parents.
